Is a software that secretly
gathering personal information from the
user's computer without their knowledge.
The spyware can usually run in the background
gathering information about anything you
do on your computer and then uploading that
information back to internet server.
The ways that spyware gets
into your computer can be the result of
installing a new program, usually bundled
within "freeware" or "shareware".
This way, the developers will get paid from
selling gathered information as marketing
information to interested parties. Therefore,
you don't have to pay for the software.
Another common way for spyware to get into
your computer is as a software virus.
Adware:
Is an advertising supported
software. It is a software that can be downloaded
free from the web, but contains banner advertisements
that create revenue for the company. Adware
is as Spyware, install components on your
computer that will send marketing information
whenever you are online. Unlike Spyware,
Adware contains a disclosure telling you
that they will be using your information.
It is important to read the privacy policy
when downloading any Adware.
Malware:
Malware is slang for malicious
software. Malware is software designed specifically
to disrupt a computer system. A trojan horse
or a virus could be classified as Malware.
Some advertising software can be malicious
in that it can try to re-install itself
after you remove it.
For the purpose of simplicity Malware is
software specifically engineered to damage
your machine or interrupt the normal computing
environment.
